This is the first time I have heard of a Porsche Turbo owner using his car as a dragster, LOL. He'd have much better results at a racetrack....
Nice driving!
The Porsche driver wasn't a great driver, that car should leap off the line but launching AWD cars is difficult. I won't launch my STi on pavement, it's abusive.
well, not quite correct for every car, although most 4wd cars can only do a launch once or twice then the systems won't do it again. but not the current generation Porsche 911's.
my 2016 Porsche Carrera S with PDK and Sports Chrono can do launches all day long. the dual clutch design in the PDK is made for this type of use.
you can watch the video below showing a 2014 911 Turbo S doing over 50 full tilt boogie launches most of which were around 2.6 seconds 0-60.

which is not to say that they would win 1/4 mile races with modified cars. but real world they set the mark for 0-60 and still can succeed on a road course too. straight line performance is only one viewpoint to consider.
I agree, I should have said my comments are limited to manual transmission cars. With auto/dual clutch and launch control it's very easy... I assumed that Porsche was manual as otherwise it should have beat any RWD car with DOT tires off the line regardless of driver skill.
