IMO low attendance has nothing to do with consumers crashing the show, they've always been there and we've always welcomed them. Problem is the lack of participation by foreign & domestic trade buyers which has turned off many from exhibiting. There are many reasons for this including economy, costs, new business models, rise of the Munich Show, etc., etc., etc. but fact remains is that CES is dead for the high end even if some of us still exhibit there...

He agrees. Interestingly, he cites the overall costs for a manufacturer to attend / display at CES (labor unions, hotels, airline tickets, taxi fares, etc.) as additional reasons for falling attendance.

    And of course, there's Munich.
Probably the 2 most important factors. I agree

BTW, if it is a trade show (as it is) perhaps they should remove the word "Consumer" from the show title and use another

CES is a "trade show" for "consumer electronics". A show for the "trade" organized so that companies in a specific industry can showcase and demonstrate their latest products and meet with industry partners - the industry being "consumer electronics" which are equipment (electronic) that are typically used in the home for everyday use.

Not a bad idea but what coast is close to RMAF?

“I have some good news and some bad news about CES 2017. The good news—and it is good news—is that the sound at this year’s rendition of Viva Las Vegas was considerably better than it’s been in years past. The bad news—and it is very bad—is that there were some 40 fewer exhibitors at the 2017 show.” -JV
