I saw that but that was just a statement without any rationale or explanation behind the statement. I have emailed Yamaha again after the last post I made. Yamaha customer support likely will not know the answer, but does not hurt to ask.

Seeing as there was actually a page for the NS-5000's on the USA site for them, that's since been removed, my hopes aren't high. I'd have loved to check them out.

I hope your email is returned affirmatively as to their eventual sale, here.

I think what will happen is that Yamaha will come out with a line of speakers using the new tech. Similar to what Paradigm has done with the PERSONA line. I cannot see Yamaha not going into the largest market in the world (USA). Yamaha must be getting their ducks lined up in a row to introduce the new lineup. Having just 1 $15K is not going to be a big money maker or drive interest.

I would not hold my breath because Yamaha has never extended driver technology[ like the berrylium drivers in the NS1000s] into cheaper models.
These tend to be flagship models and are probably most valuable as a general promotional tool rather than as something to generate direct profits.
I wonder if there is a problem with the NS5000 marketing model in USA as it seems in other countries they have made the decision to restrict distribution to a select few retailers and it seems that the speakers are purchased directly from Yamaha with a commission then going to the retailer. Thus eliminating discounting opportunities.
In some places this sort of marketing is a breach of fair trading regulations. Not that Apple take any notice.

I've been interested in these speakers since first learning of them, having passed on the 1000m's when they were introduced in the US the mid-1970's, and always regretting it. So I've read every forum and review and even contacted Absolute Sound's editor and have gotten the "not at this time" reply from Yamaha twice. I've also looked around the world for dealers that might be selling them. I learned that 3 months ago the speakers were shown at a UK audio show (the "Indulgence" show) and the writer said they were the only pair in the country, although I did find them on one London dealer's website so am going to confirm that. They seem to be available in Australia and I also looked in Japan and found one large Tokyo dealer has them on back order. So my guess - and it's just that - is that Yamaha has a hit on its hands and simply can't keep up with demand, so is concentrating on its domestic market and maybe the Asia market first. This kind of makes sense, since their new amplifier line seems to be good, but not great, so naturally demand for it would be less.

I believe Yamaha will come out with a new line of speakers using this same technology in the near future for the USA.
