Ki has done it again. His Lyrec TR-55 'Meisterstuck' just arrived from the Netherlands and what a gem it is! It belongs in the permanent design collection at MOMA. Super clean design. I have booked my trip to Europe to find one or two. It might be one of only a handful in the US. Here is a crappy little video I shot last Saturday at our Tape Club meeting. It is sitting to the right of the A80 around the middle of the video.

Damn Ki! Soon you'll have more machines than tapes :)

Hi Myles:

Yes, it's sad but getting close. I no longer have extra wall space to squeez in any more R2R machines... until I can find a Telefunken M15 and a Stellavox console recorder... ;-)

Two worthy aspirations :)

Hi Rich:

Thanks for posting the video of the fun afternoon. It was four grown men acting like little kids with a new toy to show & tell - what a blast!
I believe you are one of the most influential tape evengelists.
Let's hope we can hook another unsuspecting newbie from the video.

Oh, truly evil!! There I was innocently obsessing over consumer machines and (somewhat)? sanely priced 4 track reels.... Blammo! I find WBF!! 2 years, and some dozen machines, later... I'm FINALLY convinced I'm getting a handle on this affliction, when up pops Rich's Studer Museum video, and I see the Lyrec TR-55's...
Ki, you know, you mentioned running out of space.. I'm clearing 2 Ampex Machines out of the shop this weekend, and visualizing TR-55's in their place.
I'm gonna visualize real hard!

Events like this make me feel I am just an "average audio hobbyist" !!! :)

Congratulations on the projects, another good reason to stop by Seattle anytime!

Hi Harv:

it seems you are deep into it already and had passed needing therapy stage. The video U47 took was several years ago and the herd had grown and multiplied since. There are four TR-55s in the museum along with other rare machines. You are welcome for a visit and the admission is always free. ;)

Good Tuesday afternoon U47,
Thank you for the video. This is the first time I've had the opportunity to actually see some of the massive collection of tape decks Ki owns. My mouth hit the floor as your camera scanned the rooms. Thanks much.

That Lyrec is a sweet looking deck. I was not aware the made any other models other than the Freida and the capstan less archive model. Ki that is some collection you got going there, Keep up the good work :)
Cheers
