I don't know what is more anti climatic, Dylan not going to accept or Patti Smith trying to replace him. They should have played a film clip instead.

It was a little strange; you can watch the entire ceremony on youtube. This is a very high class ceremony with very high class people.
The Nobel Prize is to literature what the Academy Award is to film, but @ a much higher class level with people to support.
And now, Music & Lyrics from Bob Dylan, but without Bob.
Patti Smith stumbling a little I understand, I would be real nervous too. And Bob wasn't present, he must be real busy touring...what was he thinking?
Maybe Bob was lost in a sea of family memories? ...Thinking of his Dad, Mom, Grand Da, Grand Ma, ...?

It is what it is. You can reschedule a gig but not the Nobel Prize ceremony. I think his fans would have understood.

You just said it! You can't go back in time and start over; Patti started over from where she stumbled, and she was humble in admitting her nervousness. ...Takes courage. And the audience is very mature too; they supported her by applauding. This is truly high class behavior all the way, truly the best in people with life's circumstances.

* Bob had the opportunity of a lifetime; in my opinion it was unfortunate that he couldn't attend, but it doesn't diminish all my love for Bob.
By the way, I love Patti too...she is big in my music evolution...some of her lyrics and music recordings are a staple (secured attach) in my home.

Watch that ceremony, it's fun. :b ...I think. Fun in a good positive way; there is no other way to have fun.
