Most of the WAMM purchasers won't blink at the price just as they didn't blink when they pulled their 918 next to their LaFerrari. It's not an either or proposition.

That's definitely true.

Anybody with two thirds of a million dollars to spend on speakers has enough money for anything they desire.

Recently I have read somewhere (sorry do not remember where) that David Wilson has used the Vivaldi driving the amplifiers directly when playing digital in the Wamm's. Does any one have details on the full system being used in these sessions?

I have been present for many if not most of the demos for WAMM visitors. I have not yet seen Dave Wilson use the Vivaldi directly driving amplifiers.

has the WAMM sold out?

A conundrum for Mr. Wilson if he builds more, when would they no longer be limited editions.

Jim, I seem to recall 27 or so pairs were on order closer to the beginning of the year according to a post.

btw, I spoke to Alon Wolf about the Ultimate at a local event two years ago - he said the horn is so hard to produce and takes so much time (by a Boeing supplier IIRC, so not a typical driver manufacturer), they only do a few speakers at a time. I think he was in the middle of run of 5-6 sets which surprised me.

You'd be surprised at how many of those uber-speakers are out there.
From where I stand, the ultra expensive and the ultra INexpensive is what's selling. All that stuff in the middle is suffering, from various malaises (Audiogon, etc.)

Thanks - I have now found my source - an answer to a reader letter from Mark Michelson at Audiobeat. http://www.theaudiobeat.com/letters/letters_march_2017.htm - probably just a rumor.

To quote Marc from your link, "For digital, I think..." Doesn't sound like he remembers.

Running the Vivaldi direct would require moving interconnect cables. Unless Marc specifically asked, I'm not sure why Dave would do that. But it is certainly possible.

Marc's link is correct about WAMM production. The first pair began installation yesterday.
