I've got a 400 DO II and a 500 L II.....but November in the mountains east of Seattle is mostly overcast. so my fingers are crossed for some clear periods. the moon over the mountains can be breathtaking.....

I'm using a 600L IS on a Canon 7D for the added pixel reach. Focus manually using live view at 5x or 10x magnification.

Nice. I don't think they make 500mm for Leica in M mount, so I probably won't be getting any pictures!

Beautiful picture. Were you using a 7D Mk l or Mk ll?

Wonder what the photo would have looked like with a full frame sensor

what camera settings did you use

It's a 7D...terrible high iso performance...but not needed for moon shots. I am ordering a 1Dx mark2 tomorrow and will probably order a 7D Mk2 for the times I need the added pixel reach from the ASP-C size 1.6x crop factor sensor it has. It is useful for small song bird photography that I like to do when you can't get very close to the subject. What's amazing to me is that Canon's flagship 1DxMk2 now outperforms Nikon's D5 in the usuable high iso department according to DXOmark. https://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Com...5-versus-Canon-EOS-7D-Mark-II___1071_1062_977

The moon shot was not shot with a 7D...it was shot with my old canon 1D Mark IIn. The 7D can take even sharper pics due to live view focusing. I posted the wrong shot. Here's a 7D shot.

There are clouds, but she's piercing through sometimes, and it's pretty awesome. She's coloring the clouds near by, with tones of blue and orange, and adding some extra dimension.

Test (from android camera):

* I was taking that picture while falling down (the deck is slippery and just when I was clicking I was starting my fall), lol, sorry about that, it's not my fault, the stars were against me. My nose is bleeding a little (I fell face down first).
