These are renderings.

Are there any of these in the flesh?

Can you pull a stump out of the ground or do you have to get it serviced mid pull?

They are not renderings. From the same article, in living color...

Nothing wrong with pick-up trucks. It looks pretty cool. Mercedes is just catering to the rugged luxury segment of the American market, just like Range Rover does. People gasped when Porsche came out with an SUV. That X class will fit right in at sailing regattas or Kruger National Park. Here is my more humble version:

Remember everyone's reaction when Porsche launched the Cayenne SUV back in the early 80s......and it had 4 doors!

Ya but Porches are rugged in the sense that they're reliable, like most Toyota trucks (there are a few bad years, circa 2008ish). Ford trucks are more reliable than their cars; same with dodge. Trucks are meant for doing work, and hence the reservation about a work truck that's a service queen. Land Rovers are mostly driven by soccer mom's, because they like being up high, not because they go off road; but may live somewhere that snows.

Lincoln tried this awhile ago and it was a massive failure.

If MB had brains on this subject they'd sell Toyota's dressed up with MB style and comfort.

Australians don't drive pickup trucks, they drive Utes. A Ute is like a 2 door pickup truck, only it's based on a car and not a truck. Ute drivers have a reputation for being bogans (Australian term for "redneck"). MB would be laughed out of the country if they released a MB Ute!

Like that pathetic thing from Subaru?

In the USA they're just called El Camino, Ranchero, and that ugly-worthless-subaru model.

I normally love Mercedes but these look a little too much like Mitsubishis Stradas.

G-style trucks that are truly rugged and useful would be awesome... think Dakar capable unbreakable/power wagon/International Harvester circa 1960's/modern fuel mileage. That I would love.

Calgary, Alberta is the pickup truck capitol of the world. If these go into production we should see a few around here.

Personally, I can't wait for the 2018 model, the monster truck edition

The El Camino was the US equivalent. They don't make them anymore, but they are popular for resto-mods. Slap a crate motor in them, lower the stance, do up the bed - nice looking ute. Would go down well in Armidale.
