Better audio on my computer video?

Greetings

I've (so belatedly!) started recording some of my band's performances on my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop.
Now wondering how to improve the audio. Like, can I run a better mic in to go with the vid during recording?
Or a line from the p.a. board?

I'd like to get cannier and better at the whole process; get a "studio" program into the computer. But one step at a time.

Here are links to the two attempts so far. Note that one is running @ 7 frames a second. Got no idea why or where the settings might be.

This is using a function under "camera" in the apps list.

Can you perhaps direct me to the right place to ask for help with this stuff?

Thanks,
denno
