Hi Leif,

The Metaphors are still in the system. I intend to rotate the stacked Quads in one of these weekends when super mario's boys and I are all available. I would like to hear the stacked Quads with the Croft amplifiers.

Me too:)

Leif,

That's great!

Do you have a target date?

I don't. We leave next week for Chicago for a week, then back for 2 weeks or so before we leave for Munich, then back for a week and a half before we do the L.A, Audio Show. So I would guess after the L.A. Show which takes place the first week of June.

Since the price range of their Ultra line is particularly exotic. Can someone compare their Ultra line with Siltech/Crystal top of the line cables ?

Their design paths are definitely different. I would like to know which one is right for my system/speakers.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Everything is system specific so my advice is to get a loaner of each and compare in your own system rather than having people tell you what they are hearing. For my ears the MB Ultra cable is the finest cable I have ever had in my system. So much so that my entire system is wired now with a complete loom of MB Ultra cable. As I said before, these are lifers and occupy a permanent part of my system as I just won't ever sell them

Hi ,
I found many rave reviews about the MB's Ultra and Signature series. But I could not find any comment about the Reference series and nothing about the Performance series.
Would it mean that the Reference and Performance series' performance falls behind the top lines in a big margin and no one would like to try it ?

If anyone has the experience to access Reference and Performance series , please help to share.

Thank you.

Hi JSN

Is that short for Jason? :)

I have moved from Signature to Ultra. Today's Reference series is almost identical to the original Signatures that you may have read about before. The change happened only a year and a half to two years ago. So chances are the great things you've been reading about the Signatures depending on when these impressions were posted or published, apply directly to today's Reference line. Today's Signature have been bumped up in performance to sit squarely between Ultra and Reference. While the Performance has been improved as well, I have yet to try the new formulation/construction. I still use the Purple line in a second system which the Performance replaced. While nowhere near the big brothers I have found them very competitive with other good cables in their price class. The star of the show for the Purple IMO would be the Power Cords which do very well in both high and low current applications.

Hi Jack,
Good guess.;?)

Your sharing about the lower class of the MB cables is really helpful. I'd check it out from MB's site further.
Thank you.

Hi....

I would like to demo 6 Ultra power cords, 1 Ultra USB, 3 set of Ultra interconnects, some Ultra speaker cables, and could you send your VR-55's as well? And I would like to have them by this weekend please:)

We raffled off a Performance Line power cable at C.A.S. amd the winner just relayed to me his feedback on the impact of the PC on his DAC - here it is in his words:

I'm immensely enjoying listening to music with the MasterBuilt cable powering my Playback Designs DAC. Simply put, it's staying put. :)

As my wife and I listen to digital sources exclusively, the aforementioned DAC (obviously) is a critical component in our system. I knew it was sensitive to vibration, which I manage with my Box Furniture Co. rack. Evidently the DAC is sensitive to its power cable as well. (I thought my Triode Wire Labs power cable was "good enough". It's not.)

Frankly, I'm amazed. I expected (wanted) to hear little if any discernible difference with the MasterBuilt cable. But it was immediately apparent it was different, and within an hour of power, it was obviously better. Noticeably blacker background. Denser, more satisfying drum thwacks. More 'meat' on the 'bones'. In my wife's words, "There's more there." (Almost as if I had upgraded the DAC. What a relief to think I don't have to. Yet.)

Joe, with a nod to The Monkees, I'm Believer. You and your escorted customers, and of course SFAS members are welcome to visit (Half Moon Bay) and hear what the right cord, in the right place can do. I'm now curious to hear a full set of MasterBuilt power cables in my system as well.

Best,
Brian

And that’s with the entry level Performance Line!

I’ll be getting a batch of demo cables in a week or so if anyone in the Northern California Bay Area is interested in auditioning these cables in your system.

Cheers, Joe
