The Duke's bar at the crossing of new bond street and st James in London is where Ian Fleming used to drink martinis, and the crossing gave him the idea to name the character James Bond. I know this trivia because long time ago I used it to ask a girl out for a martini there and the trivia impressed her and she accepted.

What is most interesting is that the Bond series dates from 1962 and has involved Broccoli and Saltzman with Cubby Broccoli’s daughter now being the Executive Producer

From Wiki....

The James Bond film series is a British series of spy films based on the fictional character of MI6 agent James Bond, "007", who originally appeared in a series of books by Ian Fleming. It is one of the longest continually-running film series in history, having been in on-going production from 1962 to the present (with a six-year hiatus between 1989 and 1995). In that time Eon Productions has produced 24 films, most of them at Pinewood Studios. With a combined gross of over $7 billion to date, the films produced by Eon constitute the fifth-highest-grossing film series.[a][1][2][3][4][5] Six actors have portrayed 007 in the Eon series, the latest being Daniel Craig.
Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman co-produced most of the Eon films until 1975, when Broccoli became the sole producer. The single exception during this period was Thunderball, on which Broccoli and Saltzman became executive producers while Kevin McClory produced. From 1984 Broccoli was joined by his stepson Michael G. Wilson as producer and in 1995 Broccoli stepped aside from Eon and was replaced by his daughter Barbara, who has co-produced with Wilson since. Broccoli's (and until 1975, Saltzman's) family company, Danjaq, has held ownership of the series through Eon, and maintained co-ownership with United Artists since the mid-1970s. The Eon series has seen continuity both in the main actors and in the production crews, with directors, writers, composers, production designers, and others employed through a number of films.

I don't like any bond movie. None. And I love 24, Bourne ultimatum, and while Taken as a movie is very average, Liam Neeson is fantastic in the first part and would have made the best Bond. I don't like mission impossible series either

Liam Neeson (Bryan Mills) as James Bond would have been impossible ...
1. He's too tall.
2. He's Irish.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) as James Bond? No way, he's Canadian, same as Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer).

Tom Cruise (Ethan Hunt and Jack Reacher) of course not, he's American, same for Matt Damon (Jason Bourne).

* James Bond is British/English, working for the Majesty, the Queen of England.
Daniel Craig is perfectly fit. :) ...The closest as it could be.

So Ked, how can you not like Bond flicks then? Did the girl end up marrying your best friend?

Well, at least this critic didn't take the easy route in including the Dalton films in the worst 5.

I may be alone here, but I don't rate fluff like Octopussy and Die Another Day as worst Bonds. They know they're camp, and live up (down?) to expectations.

It's so-called serious attempts like SPECTRE that deserve worst status imho, this film didn't fail because it was camp, it just failed because it was flat.

DCraig now has one great, one marginally above average, and two clunkers to his name. He's not even the third best Bond.

One thing that you guys and most every one forget is with Woody Allen as the villain (Dr Noah) in the first make of Casino Royale that in 1967 there was a James Bond spoof in which James Bond is played by David Niven and a young Peter Sellers , Ursula Andress, and Orson Welles (le Chiffe)

Casino Royale Official Trailer #1 - David Niven Movie (1967) HD

Oh we haven’t forgotten Casino Royale this side of the pond. The best Bond film imo. and Peter Sellers is brilliant as always (check out Being There). Love the total mayhem and the one liners throughout.

Peter Sellers was one of our favorite actors in the sixties...all the family ...

The Pink Panther flicks were good laughing time back then.
