...for his 1994 proof of the theorem, which states that there cannot be any positive whole numbers x, y and z such that xn + yn = zn, if n is greater than 2.

* Maybe a new digital codec was found? ...Zeros and ones, and twos (0-1-2)?

I think that you mean x^n + y^n=z^n

Fascinating story and such dedication. I remember seeing one of these equations when I was in high-school thinking they look so simple, it must be easy to prove it. A day later I gave up .
