Awesome! Hopefully they'll improve reliability back to when they were like tractors with a car shell. And provide some decent jobs.

Had the good fortune of visiting the Volvo plant in Gothenburg over 10 years ago. It was definitely an experience seeing cars rolling along a line 4 stories up and seeing all the ABB robotics. This is indeed good news for California. I hear from manufacturer friends that the restrictions there are stifling especially when it comes to chemicals. No wonder the furniture industry suffered.

My wife is of Swedish heritage and she was upset when Saab got out of the auto business and Geely, a Chinese company, bought Volvo.

Back in the day I owned a Volvo 264GL and it had a V6 engine with dual overhead cams. Dealer told me it was a Maserati engine but I was never sure if he was telling the truth. Most likely not. I will say the car was quite fast and fun to drive for a blocky 4 door sedan.

I can tell you it was quite expensive to replace those cams and rocker arms - unfortunately.
