I think the words ISP and customer service is an oxymoron. I have comcast as long as the service is running, all is well. If it completely dies, that is also to deal with. Anything else is a terrible exercise in frustration. For a while, I had an issue where like clock work at midnight the link would essentially go offline with each packet take seconds rather than milliseconds. I would call up CS, they guy would ping my box and see it timing out. Would then send a tech to troubleshoot, only to report back he didn't find anything. I would ask them if they were testing it at midnight and of course the answer was NO.

Anyway, I thought I read that Verizon had better customer service than most. Is Fios available in your area?

What does that stand for? Since I don't know, apparently not.

And I think you are correct in that ISP's and Customer (Non)Service can't be said in the same sentence. I just got passed around to 4 people, 5 sets of incredibly burdensome touchtone sessions and 3 people who had no idea what I was talking about. I was just trying to confirm an appointment for someone to come to my home and fix what they could not fix via phone. I'm not hopeful !!

I have Fios and I am generally quite happy with the service. Occasionally we may down or the Verizon server may go down. But really quite pleased. I have only had to deal with customer service maybe 2 times in the last year. I am looking forward to Fios TV to go with my telephone and internet service. But, for us Fios TV is still not available.

Thanks. I may call Comcast since Verizon does not offer their service in my area.

The actual internet service I am getting is fine and fast. My specific issue is that my Wireless connection was dying about every 4 to 7 days which required a re-boot of my modem/wireless device and after they "fixed it" via phone, it dies daily.

I'm OK that it is not working perfectly. I'm NOT OK with the cartwheels and gymnastics one must go through to actually (a) talk to a human to work on the problem and (b) talk to someone who is not reading from a script and who has an IQ greater than a sponge.

I believe touchtone sessions are from the Devil :mad:

Fios is the name of the ISP service from Verizon. It is their fiber optic service like Uverse.
We've had Fios for nigh on two years and Verizon DSL for many years prior with zero problems.
