Saw the announcement yesterday. The "low" pixel count of 20.8-megapixels is interesting. From spec point of view, it is not competitive. The Sony sensor though is quite low noise (due to built-in A/D converters) so likely half of that ISO rating is real as opposed to just marketing :).

Note that the D4 that it replaces had 16mp, and some think that had the best IQ in many circumstances of any SLR. The 800/810 line has 36mp -- that's their higher mp cam and may well get a a bump to 50+ this yr. As big as anything about the D5 is the new focus tracking system which Nikon claims will be class-leading.
