I'm intrigued with the great reports from RMAF and review in Stereophile of the Vinnie Rossi Lio preamp. Can anyone comment on its sound, particularly the phono stage?

Can't help specifically, but I can recommend Vinnie, I have his Black Lightning batt psu for my phono, and he's a friendly, professional guy to deal with. The product is stellar.

Thanks! From my communication with Vinnie so far he seems great. The Lio is undoubtedly a great integrated amp, I'm just trying to figure out how it compares to the state of the art when just used as a line stage and phono stage (no amp).

Spirit, I'm envious of your vinyl set up--the Trans Fi turntable and arm, not to mention the strainguage cartridge, looks like a very sweet set up. What is your phono stage?

Soundsmith Strain Gauge cartridge doesn't use RIAA eq. Just a plain jane amp stage used to bring the output to acceptable line levels.
