There was recently a racing event involving some very expensive racecars. At said event all the drivers were complaining about their lap times and pondering new equipment lists of more very expensive tweeks to make them better, dollar signs rapidly stacking up.

The instructor they hired(best investment of the weekend) took each one of their cars out and without any changes whatsoever shaved 5 to 10 seconds off each of their lap times.
5 to 10 seconds!

The ability to shave 5 to 10 seconds off without spending a dime, just by modifying their driving habits and working with what they already had.

Do you see any parallels? :) :D ;) :p

good analogy.

finding improvements in what you have is very satisfying and then there is the whole synergy thing which is related. ideally actual performance exceeds the 'sum' of the parts.

this last year I've been tweaking my room in various ways; mostly surface fabric treatments here there and everywhere, trial and error, and also closing up a ceiling bass trap. the process took 7-8 months of time but the end result was a whole different level of performance......and less than $1000 investment. just time and focus. the music is just more real.

all the expensive gear was there last year and the year before too. but I needed to change to take it further.
