I can't think of any long-term/high $$ contract that has worked out for a team. Usually what happens is that a team is still paying the salary long after the player has moved on!

Exactly. You'd figure by now these owners would realize that.

Paul Allen [Microsoft co-founder & multi-billionaire]

Pocket-change for the owner = $31 million/year.
Take a look at the Seattle Seahawks stadium; costs the TAXPAYERS [Bruce & I] about a BILLION DOLLARS. The owner of the team, Paul Allen [Microsoft co-founder & multi-billionaire] gets all the proceeds from the stadium's operations.
Royalty & Elites do dominate.
zz.

P.S. Bruce can you cover my 1/2 this year?;)

Great pitcher. Seems like a class act and good teammate. A team doesn't have to worry about him ending up shot at a strip club. Would absolutely love to have him on my team...but that is a lot of $$$. Adding Price and Kimbrel likely makes the Red Sox the instant favorites in the AL East. Now if they could just find a way to dump Hanley Ramirez....

they all do.

when revenue + team valuations continue to skyrocket everyone wins. the Red Sox are a cash cow.
