Atlanta, Georgia Area
Good evening all, I don't know about other areas but we have had our share of constant rain here in Georgia. I look forward to dry weather next week. Many moons ago, actually, 2 years ago, you all got me so excited about this tape thing I had to look hard for a tape head preamp I could afford and that would work well with my Tascam 42B tape deck. Of course I had to change the playback head and went to Mr. French for assistance. As some of you may recall, the audio systems engineer/tech agreed to build me a tape head preamp. However, when I told him I could not pay more than $1500 dollars his jaw dropped just a bit. However, he call me several months later and said he would take on that task. I've had this unit playing several times weekly over a 2 year period and loved the music it produced. Now I am looking for help from all of my friends here regarding "Tube Rolling". I have no idea what brand of tubes might give me even better sound. The tubes used in my preamp are, two 12AX7's GE's, one 6SN7 Electro Harmonix and one EZ81 GE tube. All comments are welcomed and thank you so much.

Hi Bob,

I have a little experience with 6SN7's...do you know what it does in your tube circuit?
