Hi,

A piece of sad news....I just got to know today that Dieter Burmester passed away last weekend. Needless to say, the man was larger than life and leaves behind a strong legacy, which will, hopefully, be followed through by his team. I have met Dieter on two occasions, one of which was at my home in Singapore back in 2008 and the other, more recently at Munich in May 2015. He always came across as strong willed, purposeful and extremely passionate. he looked at my 911 mk3 and jokingly mentioned that it will outlive him! Indeed that has turned out to be true......

The looks and of course the performance of his electronics did divide opinion, like most other top end brands worldwide. Nevertheless, one just couldn't fault their reliability and build quality, which, I can vouch for as a user, is second to none!

With his passing away, while I guess an era comes to an end, i sincerely hope that the brand and the company survives this event and continues to grow and prosper.

May his soul RIP,

Regards

Sujay

Sad News to me.i didn't know he was even sick. Met him twice back in the late 1990's.. Was a fun down to earth person in my view.

Hope the brand and his philosophy survives him

Hi

Agree....I find that strange too given a couple of days have passed. Although, I think they have sent an email to all dealers/distributors - my South African distributor received it this morning and that's how I know. I did speak to Fabian Benedix from Burmester this afternoon as well and expressed my condolences!

DIETER BURMESTER
In Memoriam

It is with deep regret that Burmester Audio Systems GmbH announces the
death of Dieter Burmester, the founder and Managing Director. He passed away
on 15th August 2015 in Berlin-Zehlendorf after a brief but serious illness. Until
his death, he headed the company which he founded in 1978.

Dieter Burmester's aspiration and goal was always aimed at bringing together
the perfect combination of supreme sound, technological innovation and timeless
design in all his work. Without doubt, the Burmester brand today is known
worldwide and synonymous with uncompromising sound and the very highest
manufacturing quality.
Born in 1946, the musician and engineer perfectly embodied this aspiration together
with his staff, which is why everyone who worked there appreciated his
work with great gratitude.
Ten years ago he rose to the challenge of also bringing the high-end sound experience
to automobiles. After a successful debut in the Bugatti Veyron, he set
his sights on the premium vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche brands.
Dieter Burmester was an internationally respected and recognised pioneer in the
high-end sector. He created icons of the high-end world that are second to none
with many of his legendary audio components. His passion for music and highquality
playback constantly inspired him to take innovative approaches. His creative
energy and rousing enthusiasm were the driving force behind his success,
in even the most extraordinary projects.
It was a heartfelt desire for Dieter Burmester to pass on his extensive
knowledge and the art of listening to all his staff. Together with his wife, Marianne
Burmester as Managing Director, they will continue to run the company as
he would have wished.
Dieter Burmester was a founding member of our present association HIGH END
SOCIETY, which was founded with his support in 1982 and has set itself the
goal of promoting high quality music playback.
Within and outside our association, Dieter Burmester always represented the
interests of the high-end industry with enthusiasm, skill and with great personal
commitment. With the death of Dieter Burmester, we have lost an esteemed
colleague and our association a valuable member but the entire high end scene
has lost an outstanding personality.
We will remember Dieter Burmester fondly.
