I have posted one or two of these programmes before on other subjects, but this one will appeal to many; from those that are Freddie Mercury/Queen fans to those interested into some insight at his performance skills and perceived by some other established performers (focus on Bohemian Rhapsody, Barcelona, at Live Aid).
Alfie says Freddie was a creative genius with one of the best voices ever in the rock-pop world, with one of his strengths not having any musical training that led to him finding a more unique approach that fitted him.
Definitely worth watching, with the documentary done from the perspective of Alfie Boe (a well known classically trained opera singer).
Key points-times:
23:00 Looking at Bohemian Rhapsody that then leads to Rick Wakeman talking about structure of it.
28:30 Live Aid and how Freddy was a key front man, Bob Geldoff a bit on song structure
32:30 looking at the crossover of rock-classic and Barcelona (mentions rarely performed live due to its complexity) and his interest in classical-opera and that of soprano Montserrat Caballé, who he said had the best voice in the world (more interested in her than Pavarotti who was performing at the same venue).
40:15 Shows how good Freddie's voice is as they play an initial demo where he sings both parts (his and Montserrat), it is impressive in terms of vocal scale.
41:30 with Montserrat about the recording and experience with Freddie
Anyway enjoy, definitely worth watching and shows just how good a singer and artist he really was.
Unfortunately the original is no loner available from ITV so this is the next best thing Link and below attached Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz2FSJKkHyA

An amazing voice, but like Steve Perry, one of those clean, clear, soaring voices. I always preferred the gravely mumble myself, but the quality of Freddie's voice is impossible to deny.

Yeah, and then with the song Barcelona that even Alfie Boe was concerned trying to sing live, and Montserrat watching the video had great respect for Freddie's talent.
