THIS IS GOODBYE!

Having reached the 90th year of my life, after several years of very little productivity, I have decided to stop altogether. My website has been discontinued; there will be no more content added to it. That does not mean that what has been published and available up to now will be lost. Everything on the website has been transferred to Welcome to biline.ca News and Updates!, the technology site of Jeff Mathurin. Nothing is missing, thanks to the supportive efforts of Jeff. You can still go to every former section of The Audio Critic by using the menu on the left. It is not without considerable regret that I am making this move, but the time inevitably comes when you have to call it quits. Goodbye, friends and antagonists; it has been a great 38 years!

Although unfortunately, IMHO the archived material is mostly the worst of The Audio Critic; almost all (if not all) of the useful reviews and technology appeared in issues earlier than the earliest ones archived :(

Never heard of it until now. At least he puts his bias out front, versus trying to hide it.

"No wonder that graduate engineers, EE professors, and other high-level professionals always speak of The Audio Critic with respect, even though it isn't terribly technical, whereas they just laugh at the tweako/weirdo audiophile magazines. Obviously, anyone can publish an audio magazine, in print or on the Web; there's no law against it, but pitifully few are qualified."

and

"The average audiophile may not be aware of the utter contempt and jeering ridicule elicited from high-level audio professionals and academics by the self-indulgent subjective reviews in the audio press and on the Web. On the other hand, the same authorities—degreed engineers, E.E. professors, researchers in major electronics laboratories—show consistent respect for The Audio Critic, even though we try not to be too technical."

Your memory is correct, the speakers he designed were under the Fourier brand name. Quite a controversy was created when he then published a rave review of them, obviously unbiased since the mag didn't accept any advertising! I used to be a subscriber long before the internet age, and although I didn't agree with many of his opinions I still looked forward to receiving every issue. I certainly wish Peter all the best going forward!

I was a subscriber to TAC and once had a dinner conversation with Aczel, so I regard this as self-promotion.

........if he says so himself.
