That's great news; sorry to hear Sax's end-of-life story

Freaking awesome! Chad never ceases to amaze me with what he has accomplished in his life. I know that DDK (David) says the good old days of making LPs are over, but that is only true with regards to scale and not quality. Chad has already been turning out what is arguably the highest quality vinyl we have ever seen and heard with QRP and acquiring the Mastering Lab should take this to an entire new level. There is no doubt in my mind that Chad was the perfect guy to buy the Mastering Lab and that he will honor the legacy and spirit of Doug Sax. Chad, if you are reading this, you are the man!

Yeah I read ddk's comment, found it a bit too over-reaching, to say the least.

This is a complete refutation of ddk's prediction in the analog/digital poll thread that vinyl's best days are long gone and will never come back. Perhaps not to the same scale, but certainly, there is passion and quality today and it seems that analog is indeed making a comeback. Congratulations, Chad.

Scale, no...quality yes save for the bit of degradation of master tapes of the best music from old.(reissues). The bigger issue is good new music..I haven't been too enthralled and have plenty to play from the golden era spread over rock/pop, Jazz and Classical.

P.S. I hope that Chad obtained all of the master tapes made at the sessions where Doug cut the D2D masters of all his LPs!

A reissue of the Sheffield Drum Record? My speakers are already shaking at the thought.

Nah. There are some other gems in their catalog.

I can't help but think we just guarenteed ourselves an increase in the price of AP vinyl.

I can't help but think we just guaranteed ourselves another increase in the already super high quality of QRP vinyl.

Johnny-I for one am not looking for negatives to come out of Chad's acquisition of the Mastering Lab and all of their gear. I truly only see positives and I think Doug Sax passed on happy that the Mastering Lab and all of his precious gear went to the right person (Chad) and more good things would come in the spirit of what he worked his entire life to create.

It is very exciting and I look forward to quality going up, production increasing, and perhaps, just perhaps, prices stabilizing or even going down a bit as supply increases.

Well for one thing you will see more releases from both Chad and the mainstream record labels.
