Many thanks for this very informative and comprehensive review. This is totally in line with my experience since I have acquired this cartridge about 9 months ago. After many trials, I ended with a loading of 117 ohms on my Allnic H3000V which is the closest setting to yours. I also concur with your experience with phono cables. After several trials, I settled with Ikeda phono cables. Considering that the official retail price in my country in less than 4000 USD, restrospectively it is a no brainer though I know that one day I will feel compelled to mount a Koetsu stone body.

Great review Myles. I think I was the first person to ever post a pic of the Proteus on the net. I ordered an Orpheus L and Transfiguration sent me one of the very first Proteus carts they made instead. How ironic that I haven't used mine for any meaningful length of time (try a few minutes!) because my Phonostages don't have enough gain. I hope to change that situation very soon. I intend to borrow Jim's EMT until I can get my hands on a P1.
