Every time when I get into an A80 transport, I am amazed at the level of deep engineering it must have evolved and implemented over the years by Studer people. Other than few odd things that can be corrected such as poor choice of their capacitors both electrolytic and the oil-filled caps in the power relay and spooling motor control boards, A80s are tanks. they will be pulling tapes years and years after I am gone.
