Hi,

I just want to confirm the names of the latest models of CAT pre & power amps :

1) Is SL-1 Legend the latest model of their pre ?

2) JL-2 Ultimate - is this the latest designation of the JL-2 stereoblock ? Any idea whether they will be upgraded to KT150s ?

So little information available out in the www.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Joe, it is indeed not easy to get info on CAT gear. Ken doesn't like the idea of web exposure...at least that is what it appears to me.
Anyhow, I think ( pretty sure) that the current preamp is the Renaissance 'Black Path' and his latest amps are the JL5's. The SL-1 Legend has been out for for some time now, and is an off shoot of the SL-1 line. ( Supposedly his best effort...although I'm not sure it is better than the latest Renaissance model).

Just to add that 'Black Path' versions relate to a new capacitor that Ken developed and which, according to Ken, makes a significant improvement to all products. I understand Black Path caps are now used in Legend pre and JL2 Ultimate as well so latest Legend should be much better than the latest Renaissance with Black Path caps. Feel free to PM me if you would like more info as I have an email from Ken with some info on the Black Path caps and their sonic benefits. Hope this helps!
