Hi bonzo75,

Yes, HQPlayer is a fabulous software!
Hope that the interface can be improved/becoming more friendly.

CK

Yes that is the main issue, but I am sure that will happen, the way changes are happening

I agree there. If only there was a way to use HQ Player's upsampling filters with JRiver's easy to use interface.... :)

My GG has arrived yesterday. I won't say it is the best DAC ever. Best is meaningless. But certainly, this DAC is one of the best I ever heard and owned. Very happy with it.

If it sounds half as good as it looks, you have a winner!!

Sweet.

How long have you been breaking it in?

Where are you located? In EU, US or Asia? I ask to see how far it travelled to get to you.

Let me know when you have played back DSD256 please and what your impression is...

I am in Hong Kong. My dealer told me that this is the third worldwide GG and first GG in Asia. I am been warming up for the last 24 hours. The sound is getting better as expected. I do not have much DSD files and mostly I play PCM files.

But I will definitely use HQPlayer to upsample to DSD256 in the next few days.

Thanks for your reply Adyc,

It did travel a long way, so will take a few days to stabilize, I guess and with break-in north of 100 hours, it should open up nicely.

What specs does you GG have? No Vol control I see and clearly it has PCM and DSD256. Anything else?

You can download a sample album for free at www.nativedsd.com ....go to the Justlisten section and you can compare at different DSD rates for most songs and as DXD for a few of them too. Great way to test things out. You just need to register for free to be able to DL. If you can't find the link, let me know and I will post it here.

Edit:

Free DSD256 sampler album.

PCM with mono DSD 256. But the dealer said that there are troubles in getting mono DSD 256 board. So they sent me GG with stereo DSD 256 first. After they sort out the supply of mono DSD 256 boards, they will send the mono board to my dealer to put back into my GG.

I belive there is no such a thing as DSD 'mono' boards. AFAIK those are still the same DSD stereo boards, only run in parallel .

I think so too Adam.

The first dsd256 are laboriously hand built (so far only for GG), but the PCB version will be ready in a week or so and will be available in mass quantities.

You both are right? Maybe that's what my dealer means.

The copper case certainly looks very good. The packing as seen in the photo is also much improved compared to B7. The sound is already better than B7 although it has been up only 24 hours.

There is no such a thing as 'mono DSD'. There is either stereo or double stereo DSD (run in parallel).

I have single stereo DSD 256. AFAIK double stereo DSD module is not ready yet. My old Lampi DSD L5 gen 5 had double stereo 128.

8k euro AFAIK ... the exact pricelist id on the Lampi's web page.

Considering the performance you are getting - it is one of a true hi-end bargains.

Correct. Double DSD256 will be ready when the PCB production is ready.
