About the time I could afford any car I wanted, I completely lost interest in them. Seriously, I almost have trouble opening up auto mags to look at the autoporn.

I have had a Subaru WRX wagon that I have driven for ten and a half years and will probably be driving for several more. It fits me like a glove, I use it to haul my surfboards to the ocean, and it generally is the best car I have ever had. Before, I drove a couple of Infiniti Q45s and an older Lexus.

The Subbie gets attitude from the humongous SUVs as one might expect, but pop it into third gear and it is an all wheel drive gazelle and it's out of there.

I had a 1983 Subaru GL10 2 door that I drove for 10 years as well. And I also think it's the best car I've ever owned. I'd get another one without blinking an eye.

Hi

Looking forward to the Tesla SUV, the X. I hope it has serious off-road capabilities and as reliable as the Tesla "S" cars.

My Dad has a 2013 WRX STI hatch as part of the fam fun pool. Well that's what I call it anyway because I can borrow some of his cars for a week at a time. Gazelle is a very apt description. The little guy drives on rails. Total opposite of the Skylark with the crate motor that doesn't want to turn at all and wants to lift it's nose off the ground when you hit the gas pedal, LOL! My Pop is one fun octogenarian I tell ya. :D

My son has this same car Jack and yes it drives like on rails but be careful posting positives about it here. I made that mistake a while ago and was excoriated by one of WBF's more learned racers. And to make matters worse I made the fatal mistake of using the term "twisties" in my post...:p

These are a few I'm interested in:

BMW M2 (likely to be my next car if they put DCT in it)
Mercedes GT
Cadillac ATS-V vs M4 comparo
Ford GT350

What are you guys eyeing? Surprising, nothing terribly exciting coming out of Porsche right now- just the remaining various models of the 991.

I guess I am quite conservative when it comes to vehicles. We drive a C-Max Energi and a quite-vintage Volvo XC70. The former gets a something over 2,500 miles *per month* and is averaging mid-50s mpg overall. The Volvo can pull a moose straight up on pure ice.... or at least seems to have that capacity.

Opinion here, offered tongue-in-cheek, and not as a judgment: BMWs aer Wannabe Cars - they Wannabe a Mercedes and they Wannabe a Porsche - but do not quite do either as well.

Mercedes are excellent vehicles, however, when a simple brake-job runs over $1,000 per axle, they are not for the great unwashed. Our last Benz was a 1987 300TDT wagon. Sold it in 1998 with very nearly 200,000 miles on it.

Cadillac has come a VERY long way - they have a way to go, but GM seems to understand the need and seems to be going that way. They remain just too big for my taste.

Ford's QC has improved mightily these last few years, and may be compared favorably to any of the Euro marques, and is approaching some of the Japanese marques.

My boss drives a Tesla - I would like to see these cars come down in price so that they are a reasonable alternative to a conventional non-luxury option.

Christian is a track guy so I'm not surprised. To his guy's eyes I think the S is HOT. Like a model that can carry a dress, I think the S carries the wing well. Not the case with say, the way a Black Series C63 carries its wing or the E92 M3 CLS carried it's wing as well. Those looked horrid to me.

I'm not a track guy and we have nasty roads here so while I've always drooled over super cars, I've never even thought of owning one albeit I have fantasized about living in Europe and owning one there. Make it a small, fast, stealthy sedan for me where I can load up my golf clubs and not be hounded by ricers. Something I can go quickly but not insanely fast on a mountain road get my adrenalin thumping on on and off ramps and the occasional stop light. I'm looking to see what the 2016 C63 sedan will be like. I can't imagine engine noise being piped in on an M3 so they are out. I can't stand all the horrible ding dong bell notifications and alerts in an ISF so that's out too.

I have a 2012 Lexus ISF 17K miles and I am not sure what horrible ding dong bell notifications and alerts you are talking about??? the only notification I am aware while driving is a beep just before redline to inform you to pull another gear. Is this what you are referring to?

No offense repman. I took our GX to the shop and was drooling over an ISF parked in the service bay (I think this was about five years ago) and one of the sales guys opened the door for me. Then came the sounds as the steering wheel moved (I like this convenience feature by the way). I got in and there were a couple more. If Toyota/Lexus has now scaled back the alerts then yeah, the ISF could very well be back on my list.

No offense taken whatsoever. I was just curious as to what bells and whistles you were referring to. The ISF does a lot well and is a very well appointed sport sedan, ample power, good handling ,sport luxury and most important Lexus reliability.

I like my daily driver and my red car is the automotive love of my life (both cars are convertibles).

I agree with the fans of the Subaru. I have done some off-roading in a Subaru Outback. If I had not experienced myself what the Subaru AWD system can do through deep, wet mud (driving through a deep-forest logging operation) and over treacherous fire-roads (with pits that could swallow a Mini-Cooper), I would not have believed what it is capable of.

If I were being chased through the forest I would rather be in a 6 cylinder Outback than a Range Rover. I am not kidding.
