I do have some experience, but that's going back almost 30 years, so I need a refresher course. The Pioneer RT-909 does not have any noise reduction built-in, and I'll be recording at 7.5ips. Tips on proper maintenance would also be appreciated. The source will be mostly vinyl (cleaned beforehand) and everything is connected to my Marantz KI-Pearl.

I'll be using RMG (1mil) LP35 tape (3,600'). I need to keep costs down and I also want to learn first before I upgrade to a thicker (better?) quality tape.

Any assistance you can provide would be immensely appreciated! :D

Do you know how to set bias for that tape?

Not yet. Would that be in User Manual? I just downloaded it from HiFiEngine.

It should be. You would need a test tone generator to do it.

Could I use one of the software programs available online to do this? Don't really want to buy more gear.

if you can get an analog signal at 1.23V at 1k, 100Hz and 10k into the deck, that's all you need.
