That's the other advantage with the cellphone GPS systems - they use not only GPS satellite, but also wifi and cell-tower information, plus the acceleration sensors keep you on track even in a loooooonnng underground tunnel.

Agreed. That when we were forced to use our phones. Do remember that in our case that meant activating roaming data services. $$$$$$$!!!!!!!

Huh?

TomTom in Europe comes with a Sim card or cheaper ones tap into your cell phone for all this info. Cell phone alone wont get you High Definition traffic info.

I don't have a US sim card. In Europe it's easy. I just buy prepaid micro Sims from Vodaphone. Takes forever at AT&T. Verizon doesn't use Sims. They are pure CDMA if I'm not mistaken.

In the US, you can buy pre-paid T-Mobile SIMS. I remember paying $$$$$$ when I had to activate data on my US cell when I got lost. Now, I use a "global plan" and have unlimited data roaming world-wide on T-mobile/Orange networks and affiliates.
