Buy CDP or DAC with existing transport?

I am considering the Luxman D-05 CDP or the DA-06 DAC for my system.

I currently have a TEAC PD-H600 CDP and a Pioneer Elite DV 79AVi universal player to use as a transport, both lightly used, and decent players.

The CDP and DAC are closely priced- within $100.00. I don't do computer audio yet, but may in the future.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would just skip the New CD player since you have one and go with a dedicated music server plus outboard DAC.

I would get a DAC and use the TEAC as the transport. I would keep the Pioneer in the system for movies, BDs and SACDs. Why? Accidentally sending a MCH Dolby Digital or DTS signal to a DAC not ready to accept it can be rather unpleasant! This route will enable you to go into computer audio more easily while being able to enjoy the benefits of a new DAC. Just my 2 cents. :)

I'll throw my 2 cents in and concur with both posts, JackD201 and Audioseduction. I originally got the Zanden DAC for this purpose nearly 7 years ago when a lot of people here felt i was crazy.

Hello, Jack. Please accept my apologies for this somewhat off topic post but you really sparked my curiosity with this comment. What happens?

Really awful noise Tom. I've only experienced it once at my non audiophile brother's. He hooked up his Apple TV to his basic DAC to stream music and everything was ok but when he played a movie……….
