Is 50Hz the magic XO number wrt subs in a music system?

Square meters? As in floor area? Thats pretty big -> High side of "medium".

Do you mean of the mains? Then yes. In my room, between about 60 Hz and 120 Hz there are about five sources. Very smooth response.

Hey Earl - you probably missed my question - do you roll off the subs above a certain frequency using a low pass filter or fo you just rely on the natural roll off of the drivers? Are the subs still playing into the lower midrange >200Hz?
