OMG

This things is pretty good
In fact amazing

My darling audiophile friendly wife ordered it for me for Xmas!!!

Only tried in big system so far

As had all of 4 hours on it

Burning in overnight

Will try on electret headphones tomorrow

But .47 ohm output has plenty of power to interface with preamplifier

So far

Only tried to 176khz

Not with dsd etc

Remarks

Clearly high resolution

A bit forward

Soundstage not opened up

Timbrally very good!!!

Bass very deep fast not bloomy

Well balanced

Micro detail good

Will report back as burns in

And with my difficult headphones

Just running Audiogate

And itunes

Will report back on bespoke software

And dsd

.....

You'll have to drop by Native DSD and check out some of their Free DSD files in DSD-64 and DSD-128 on the new GO.

I'm an LH dealer so please take as much grain of salt as you guys feel appropriate :D

Hot dang the 1000 is good. My honest to goodness recommendation coming from someone who has stock of all 3 models. Go with the 1000. As I profile our customers, the lower models are going to Godchildren for Christmas. The Dad's, Mom's and Godparents are going with the 1000. Leave the lower model ones for the young' uns. Treat yourselves to Big Red. Friggin' darned BANG for the buck. This coming from someone whose personal unit is the Da Vinci Dual.

Ken Kessler is a big fan of the Geek Out as well, had a great review in HiFi News.
Only downside I think was how hot it may become (more a critique rather than concern).

Cheers

Your right it does run warm
Was bit shocked when first turned it on
Checked temperature today after continual play for 8 hours

It's no hotter
So assume thermal dissipation is adequate at 21 C

Not sure at 40 C?
Guess will find out with summer coming

I'm looking forward to the LH Wave, essentially the full Pulse option package in one 17" chassis, I believe with an optional tube buffer stage.

The Geek Out 1000 is a very nice DAC. Portable, plenty of power to drive even power hungry headphones, comes with DSD 128 support. Definitely a winner for on the go and home office music listening.
