Larry is right. I too had a lot of apprehensions until I rode and spoke in a friend's Tesla. At first it was shocking to hear that he had gone to california from here and then he told me about supercharge stations, long range of the car, etc. It is by far the most practical electric car there is.

I have a "mini tesla" in the form of a utility quad. :D It is an absolute joy to not worry about stale gas, maintenance, noise, etc. I have forgotten to charge it a couple of times but it always had reserve battery so no issues. Only had one problem: one of the batteries exploded! It poured acid everywhere but luckily it was all contained underneath me (!). The cell had run dry during the summer.

I am not into sedans so no interest in current Teslas. But the SUV would be a real option if I were not so cheap :D.

That was a fun read. I am always shocked in europe when I call a "Taxi" at the hotel and an S-class Mercedes taxi shows up! In US we have junk cars being used for taxis. So strange to see a luxury car being used as a Taxi in Europe.

In Holland most of the taxidrivers are zzp ers meaning basically you are a business with only 1 employee yourself , that way they can buy very nice expensive cars and get huge taks advantages on the car (companyinvestment)

When we were in Amsterdam a couple of years ago, the taxi driver came into the hotel to fetch us. He was dressed in a suit and tie (and quite tall, as the Dutch tend to be). He took us out to his Mercedes for our trip. Very different from just about anywhere else we have been.
