How is it? Good as the other stuff?

Good, but not better - it's different (1).

It's definitely more "up" than Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! and Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress which were more doom laden and apocalyptic. I love both those albums, and while there's still all the trademark GYBE compositional, tonal and textural density, this one's more melodic, less droney, more... hopeful.

Best!

(1) To be honest, I think I prefer GYBE when they're prophesizing the end of the world, rather than its potential redemption. Luciferian is a really good album, just not a great GYBE one. YMMV, etc...

Music: 9.5/10
Recording: 8.5/10
Verdict: 9/10 - Excellent/Ultimate

"Roll With The Punches"– Van Morrison’s 37th studio album - sees him simultaneously hand-picking a selection of rhythm and blues classics (by the likes of Bo Diddley, Mose Allison, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Lightnin’ Hopkins among others) and recording a set of new self-written songs. It’s an album that features raw, intimate interpretations of some of the cornerstones of rock’n’roll alongside five new numbers by one of our most consistently brilliant recording artists. Roll With The Punches was produced by Van Morrison and recorded with an incredible team of studio collaborators including Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame, Jeff Beck, Paul Jones and Jason Rebello.

Couple of sleepers....1) on the MFSL Anadisc pressing: s-l225.jpg

and the real sleeper..2) on the Opus 3 LP ( these really are a treat, although some of the music on most of these LP's is a little....'esoteric') : th.jpeg
Tremendous SQ :D
