Yesterday I attented a concert with Royal Swedish SO sponsored by a leading daily newspaper.
The readers have woted for the favourite classical works this spring with result:

1 Carmina Burana (part) with big choir. The most thrilling performence I have heard of this work
2) Dvorak Largo from "New world"
3. Vivald "Spring" from Four seasons
4. Mozart Requim (part)
5. Ravels Bolero

The concert in Stockholm Concert hall was sold out and the public was very entusiastic!!
How would an American public wote?

Some dumb rap song :)

Hard to argue with the choices though.

Beethoven's 9th Ode to Joy could be on the list too instead of Mozart! Of course there's Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik too! On the more modern note, let's not forget Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring or Copland's Rodeo :) Tough list!

Perhaps it has something to do with Swedish mentality that we have chosen Requim instead of Ode to joy. A litlle bit darker toughts?

I'm not very knowledgeable about Classical music, but I am familiar with the songs you listed and certainly wouldn't disagree. Thanks for posting this...I'll be pulling out some of those for a listen in a short while.
