The Ugly Duck (some lifting on a Studer A812)

There was a day when a battered Studer A812 came to my door. Signs of wear and intense use were clearly visible here and there, the top alu plate showed deep scarfaces from the manually stopped rotation of some plates. The wooden sides banged hard during its travels and a lot of chips definitely belittled its elegance.
The trolley was scruffy and rusty: too many tired feet found their rest on its legs.
Moreover the machine was suffering from the usual issues typical of a RtR abandoned for 15 years.

In few words a very ugly piece of recorder.

It wan't difficult to restore its initial performance and reliability but how to integrate it in a living room with all of its aesthetical flaws?
So it remained in the corridor for some months, waiting for the right inspiration.

The good day arrived and I decided to give it a new (although still classic) look.
The result is in these pictures.

At least I was very happy with its piano lacquer finish :)

Thanks Bruce!

Myles, I know Ki. We have already exchanged some firmware in the past between us.
