I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Brazil had more possession, and controlled the game for the most part. While in control, it ceded wide open spaces for the croatians, and that's how that first (own) goal came about. Defense was never Brazil's strong point.
Individually, Brazil was horrible, with several important players completely absent from play, like Paulinho. Croatia had a more "together" team, but after they scored, they went 11-behind-the-line and played defense. Against a strong(er) team, that's always risky, and they paid for that.

If they kept on going after their first goal, exploring Brazil's glaring weakness in the defense, they would've won for sure, as the brazilians were lost, and with key players neutralized. But no, they went all-out defensive, and in the 2nd half, Brazil came back stronger.

Oh, the refereering... A japanese? C'mon... Put an italian, a brit, a german, someone with experience in tough, important matches. That same ref. always had a bad call against Brazil at the last cup, so he was known to fumble like that... When the ref. is bad, the pendulum swings both ways, he could've just as well made a bad call against Brazil again...

I was obviously hoping for a Dutch win, but predicted a 1-1 draw. This win is so satisfying. That header by RvP could very well end up as the Goal of the tournament. Beauty!

Envy all you gents. You get to watch the matches at decent times. For us it's 12.30 am and 3.30am for most matches. Planning to watch Eng vs Italy at 3.30am on Sunday morning...zzz

I've said Germany from the outset and am sticking with it. However, let me make this abundantly clear LOL........I won't be cheering for them unless my ORANJE are eliminated. They look good and have people rethinking their chances.

I wasn't at all impressed with Brasil's performance and they need to pick it up. They've got the chops to do it.

I only disagree about the England Game. England will win as Italy is a notorious slow starter in WCups.

That's a very valid point actually, and escaped my mind completely.

Buffon won't be starting for Italy. He injured his ankle during training. Major blow for Italy.

Columbia trounces Greece 3-0.

Did Greece even show up for the second half?

Great game last night between Eng and Ita! Brazil and Arg should be worried. False start for Spain and Uruguay unfortunatly.
