Hi guys/gals, another possible immediate buy-upon-lottery win component. This appears to be an assault on the bleeding edge of the SOTA - ALL drivers field coil driven w/Kilimanjaro drivers which emulate the field coils of old, but w/current levels of neutrality and reliability, each driver needing a field coil generator (8 in total in the configuration being shown at the Munich show), open baffle dipole, modularity meaning can add extra driver pairs I guess for in depth bass response.
From what I gather, field coils were the tech of choice back in the day, along w/horns, superseded by conventionally-driven cones as audio became less extreme and had to fit into a domestic environment more easily.
I believe field coils bring a horn-like immediacy, jump factor, neutrality and transparency unmatched by regular cones, esp. in the area of deep bass (I think the Focal Grande Utopia EM is a pace setter w/field coil bass?).
Hence is this going to be the SOTA cone based spkr that matches what the best of horns have to offer, while providing things horns will struggle/fail to match - linearity, continuousness btwn disparate drivers etc.
Being driven by a quartet of 211 SET amps (2 monoblocks/2 heater amps).
One little problem, the price - 350,000 Euros!!! as currently configured.

There must be some more opinions on this design purporting to attack the SOTA? Surely?

Back in the day they were the only choice. Permanent magnets at the time could not provide the require flux density in the gap. After WW2 Alnico became available and that's what drove the shift away from field coils.
