I want to add direct head output bypassing the internal amp. Looking at the inside I see a ribbon cable that comes off the the head selector switch. I assume that is the cable that is feed into the internal amp. Can someone confirm that is the correct cable? The cable is comprised of three wires (I assume left, right and ground) can anyone tell me which wire is ground?
Thanks.

You can determine which wire is ground with your DMM. Measure "ohms" between chassis and the 3 wires. The wire with zero ohms is ground. Best would be to consult the schematic in the service manual. Many vendors sell audio service manuals.
