I wonder about this match. Some reports that the 458s don't like low impedance loads. I wonder if the Arrakis 2 is within its comfort zone. I also wonder about the sonic match. I love the rich Rockport midrange and midbass. The Altairs sounded mighty good with the Soulution 700. I wonder how the 458 compare soundwise. The transient speed and accuracy of the Soulution 700 with the Altair sounded superb.

I too would like to hear that. Having heard Arrakis 2 with VTL and Altair 2 with Constellation, I liked both and preferred the VTL setup. Although other variables may have been involved to influence that, I instinctively feel like having heard the VTL with them...and then knowing others who have heard/own this combination...it is an interesting one to consider. I am also of course intrigued by the electronics Andy Payor appears to have chosen at Rockport: Gryphon, Transparent Audio and his speakers...on his website he also used to display CJ equipment.

Does not mean you will like it, but I admit I am intrigued most to hear CJ, Gryphon, Transparent with Rockport someday, particularly as these are also some of my favourite names in audio and I am already fortunate to enjoy them personally.

If you do hear this combination, definitely let us know!
