Nice work Myles. Look on the bright side. You don't need to write it all up the next few days after the show. Once you get home, your work will be mostly done! :)

After seeing the picture of the table that Myles posted that had the Durand arm on it, I have to confess I still don't get it. The cartridge mounts to a plate which then mounts to the arm and the cartridge is angled away from the "headshell" like it has some really bad body odor and the cartridge doesn't want to come anywhere near the "headshell" because it is repulsed. Either Durand is really onto something that every other designer and manufacturer of tonearms has missed, or the geometry of the Durand arm is wrong. I don't see how both could be right.

It's hard to see here but the JVA is a very, very wide cartridge. Say 50% wider than a normal cartridge. So a little of it is an illusion.

I couldn't own one b/c it would remind me too much of the wood spoon I use to stir my marinara sauce - its too 'organic' for me. ill have to side with Fremer on wood arms in general, I don't get it and haven't since they've become vogue. imo of course, this isn't a subtle bash on Durand owners, many who enjoy systems way above my standard.

Thanks for the very good, and quick coverage Myles.

On a different note. I think it is almost criminal to show your equipment sitting on it's shipping crates. Especially a TT. The AF1 deserves much better.

You would think someone could afford to buy a couple of bed sheets from K Mart to cover up the crates.

If I were the sponsor of that room, I'd be thoroughly embarrassed.

But then again, maybe they are trying to start a new "non tech - organic" trend.

Reminds me of the phrase that you have one chance to make a first impression.

Einstein has done the same thing at every show that I've been at that they've exhibited. I don't get it either. Rather industrial look?
