Isn't it an integrated amp/DAC?

Yes, it's not a replacement, but an addition, as it's an integrated with a DAC, and it's less powerful than the CTH-8550.

Thanks guys.
Was worried for awhile there that my 8550 was going to fall even further in value :)
Still might, anyway will be interesting just to hear how good the new amp/DAC is compared to say 8550 with ideal DAC.
Any idea of the cost for the LHC-208?
Appreciate it may only be an indicative price rather than RRP at time of actual release.

Thanks

Weren't a smaller pair of monoblocks to coming next in the darTZeel lineup?

Any word of those?

Yes. But i think the next step will be the NHB-108 mkii.

I think that the first piece they should upgrade is the NH18NS preamplifier. IMHO it is currently limiting the performance of top DACs in a DarzZeel system.

The first part of your quote is correct, as the next one will be the 18NS mk2. I don't think it's limiting, and I've compared it to current state of the art preamps (Constellation and Soulution), and the almost 10 year old 18NS more than held its own.

The CTH-8550 will likely not be updated any time soon, as it has Herve's current amplifier design (newer than the 108), so it'll likely keep its price nicely.

Yes. Very impressive :)

I saw them working on that prototype this Summer. I should have heard the prototype Dac?Integrated, but timing did not work out well on that. I will likely hear it sometime after Vegas, if Herve's schedule can fit in the time...

We are going to hear the LHC-208 at CES next week. I am really excited to hear this piece. I believe it is $13,000.
