Excellent story.

To take things back to music, there's a great (GREAT) song on Kevin Gordon's LP "Gloryland" called "Colfax/Step in Time" about coming face to face with the KKK in small town Louisiana. The narrator is a trumpet player in the band led by a black band leader. I'd say more, but I can't do it justice.
