That's a drag, I don't think there are many historic piano manufacturers left. I had a vintage Erard for several years, another noted French piano- I'm sure they got absorbed, doubt the brand name is still used.

With Bechstein, and Bösendorfer away (let alone Pleyel, of whom nobody has actually seen a piano anymore since 1913), this might be bad news for Steinway, or at least prices of Steinways, if you want a good one.
