I'm not sure just yet. I had planned on going today, but I overdid it domestically yesterday(moving furniture, putting together some shelving) and feeling it in my back. I know that Ed Pong and Tony Ky Ma are going tomorrow. Hopefully I can meet them there, but we'll see.

you guys didn't miss much if anything ... just the usual marketing/blabbering ... too many poorly setup systems, some upon close inspection were so poorly setup it made me wonder why anyone would trust that particular vendor in that manner. One had a turntable / stand setup way too close to the back wall, so the interconnects were being squashed between wall & stand alleviating any form of isolation that the stand "may" have offered. They thought it sounded "fine" ... but it wasn't even mid-fi to my ears. Too many static displays, although I kinda understand that with some turntable setups considering the RFI issues within this central location. And this year, some prominent players didn't even bother to show.

I went there to meet certain friends and acquaintances whom I haven't seen in a while, which turned out quite well. The show itself, it's still well run (unlike the old days) but I think it's going stale fast, and I'm not the only one ... although maybe we're just expecting too much ...

Too much emphasis on VIDEO...they're trying to be all things. Perused some other fora for opinion on the show......not much excitement was mentioned.

Too much emphasis on VIDEO

Well, I can understand that from a marketing point of view, simply because more people have HT systems these days. I recently adopted a 70 inch Aquos into my system, so because my stereo system suddenly has HT requirements, I was curious to see what I could find. Well, most of the information I inquired proved useless, especially the specifics of calibration regarding both video processing and delayed audio sync issues. If I had followed the conventional wisdom of said video gurus, my system wouldn't nearly be as resolute in terms of motion as it currently stands, nor would the sound be accurate.

Even that 4K TV demo (near the Harley Davidson's) was way less resolute than I expected.

It wasn't all bad, got to talk to some pretty girls ...

One room a vendor was playing a 45rpm Presley LP ... and it did sound reasonably good, but certainly nothing really that special. Just as the stylus hits the dead-wax, he utters ... "Folks, welcome to the world of Hi-Fidelity". So I replied ... "are you assuming none of us here have ever heard Hi-fidelity before"?

Amazingly enough, most of the audience hadn't ... which I found rather sad.
