For those who may not know, not only does Dr. Pong produce some of the finest sounding tapes available today, he also makes string instruments. He sent me a CD featuring Teng Li playing viola. The music was, 'Vieuxtemps Capriccio". Teng Li played the varnished and unvarnished viola (made by our own Ed Pong) and a Amati viola. Ed asked me to listen and determine the position of the varnished, unvarnished and Amati viola. After listening to the CD a number of times I finally thought I heard the Amati viola first, the unvarnished viola second and the varnished viola in third position. I've got to say, there was not a great deal of difference between the Amati and Ed's viola's. Needless to say Ed Pong is a very talented young man. I certainly pray that he keeps up this wonderful work. Later we may be reading about great musicians playing one of his string instruments. Ed also sent me a CD featuring other great music produced by Ultra Analogue. Much applause to Dr. Edward Pong for his great love of music.
