I'm going to throw out a few more options based off the apparent budget:

1. Usher Audio Be-718 - http://www.usheraudiousa.com/products/loudspeakers/dancer-series/Be-718
2. Mountain Audio rio - http://greenmountainaudio.com/rio/
3. Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne - http://www.evolutionacoustics.com/loudspeakers/mmmicroone/
4. Element Cable Millennium - http://www.elementcable.com/signature/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=97

I haven't heard the Ushers, but have heard others in the series and love the sound. I have heard the other three. The Mountains are very neutral and seem to just give you the music. The Evolutions are excellent and made some of my CD's sound the best they ever have. The Elements are the bookshelves I'd own if I were to buy a pair. Completely transparent and very engaging. They showed them at LSAF in 2012 and I had a hard time leaving that room. I don't know if they are still producing them though. For that matter, I'm not even sure if they had a run of them at all. I think they were having some big issues with the cabinet makers.

small room issues

i'm in 15*11*8, and have taken it much further than i thought possible. key observations after a multi-year experiment:
1) bass is your biggest issue. Either plan on springing for a Rives Audio PARC (highly recommended) or ASC tube traps (likewise).
2) bass panels behind your seat (your seat will be close to a wall in a room that size) help quite a bit. (really, stuff as much bass treatment in your room as you can, your midrange resolution will be the biggest beneficiary)
3) sharp toe in on speakers, and rely on Wilson WASP speaker setup procedure (1 vs 1.1-1.2) for box speakers. 'zone of neutrality' will be important to find.
4) first reflection matter
5) diffusion helps on front wall
6) try to keep gear out from between speakers
