Does anyone have a good recipe to remove odor from smoke in a collection of a few hundred LPs? As far as I can guess the odor comes mostly from the almost mint covers, most of them made with thick cardboard.

Yes, I know bits do not smell ...

LOL ...

I had the same situation with framed prints I inherited. You could actually see the film of tobacco and mold. Used a very mild mix of soap, bleach and water, and gently wiped (damp cloth) each picture clean.

An O3 generator will remove the odor. I never tried it with LP jackets. Intuitively, I'd think it would need to be in an enclosed space, jacket open to some degree. I'm talking about a decent-size O3 generator, not the little things one commonly sees.

Edit: Lacking such equipment and assuming the jackets are glossy, I'd suggest a good automotive APC (all-purpose cleaner). Maguires is the industry standard. The product is concentrated and should be diluted, depending on application. I'd start out with a 5:1 water/APC ratio and go from there.
