Gel-based audio speaker - ionic conductors 20 hertz to 20 kilohertz.

"In a materials science laboratory at Harvard University, a transparent disk connected to a laptop fills the room with music—it's the "Morning" prelude from Peer Gynt, played on an ionic speaker."

Just starting, so needs development. I like the "transparent" idea.

    Very cool, thanks for sharing.

There clearly needs to be further development in matching materials, resonance damping (deformations visible in low -end) and other issues, so don't expect these on a flat screen anytime soon.

But it could significantly address the center channel problem in so many flat-screen setups. Also, the mobile device usage for audio/haptic feedback is very intriguing. I wish them all the luck productizing this.
